EASTBOURNE RNLI’s Volunteer Crew recused two people in a powerboat ‘drifting close to rocks at Sovereign Harbour’ yesterday afternoon.

The RNLI was asked to launch the Inshore Lifeboat and to help an 8 metre powerboat with two people on board that had suffered engine failure and drifted ashore close to the rocks at Sovereign Harbour.

Once on scene, two Volunteer Crew members were transferred onto the casualty vessel to assist with the refloating as the tide was rising.

When the vessel was refloated, checks for damage were made and the casualty was towed back into the safety of the locks at Sovereign Harbour.

Helmsman Dean Parker said: “The successful outcome was the result of good communication and teamwork between Lifeboat crew and harbour staff.”
