EASTBOURNE RNLI Volunteer Crew were paged on Tuesday at 4pm after reports of a person cut off by the tide at Beachy Head.

Once on scene, the person was transferred to the Lifeboat and taken ashore at Birling Gap where they were met by Local Coastguards.

The Inshore Lifeboat was then diverted to reports of people possibly in trouble in a dinghy between Sovereign Harbour and Langney Point.

The casualties were found to be safe and well and the Lifeboat was stood down and able to return to station.This 2nd call will be put down as a false alarm with good intent.
