A plan to remove the on-site consultant paediatrician from the DGH will be discussed at a public meeting on Wednesday.

The emergency public meeting – being organised by LibDem candidate Josh Babarinde – is on Wednesday 10th January at the Cavendish Hotel from 5.30pm.

He said: “Make sure your voice is heard to help protect DGH services and staff from going to Hastings!

Hospital bosses are planning to remove the on-site consultant paediatrician from the DGH. Even local clinicians are concerned this could mean some children may have to go to Hastings for care instead.

I’ve called on hospital bosses to halt their changes and open a full public consultation but they have declined.

We’ve also seen the DGH closed for births for weeks on end, meaning more mums-to-be needing to go to Hastings to have their babies.

DGH bosses and the Health Secretary need to hear how important it is that core services are invested in and protected in Eastbourne.”
