The Polegate Community Foundation have launched a crowdfunding appeal to raise £500 to fund an emergency bleed control kit to be installed in Polegate.

They are raising £500 to cover the cost of an Emergency Bleed Control Kit and Cabinet to install in Polegate after a recent incident that occurred at Wannock Road Recreation Ground.

Emergency services were called to Wannock Road, Polegate, on Monday 18th March 2024 at about 21:00 GMT. – A 17-year-old boy was found with stab wounds and was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital – his injuries are no longer considered to be life-threatening, Sussex Police said.

Tragically so many lives are lost each year due to traumatic bleeding, some of which could have been prevented by properly using a Bleed Control Kit. The Daniel Baird Foundation say “If we can get as many publicly accessible venues to have these kits as possible, the public will know there is one nearby so they can help someone in need. Those vital few minutes are paramount. Heroes often come in the form of zero responders i.e. someone on the scene. You or a member of the public with access to your kit can be that person who saves a life and prevents a preventable tragedy.”
