The Street Café and the hospice shop reopened yesterday inside St Wilfrid’s Hospice, and are open to all.

The cafe will now be open from 8.30am to 4pm every day.

Chief Executive, David Scott-Ralphs said: “We have taken advantage of the recent closure due to the spread of the Omicron variant to do some upgrading work in ‘The Street’, which is the main public area for the Hospice.

We have increased the available space for the shop and also installed a Welcome Point for fundraising and supporter engagement.

We also have a new catering company providing the café service (CH & Co) and visitors will see changes to the café offering over the coming weeks.

Another change is that we have installed a spacious kitchenette area near the Inpatient Unit, for use by our volunteers who serve the patients in the unit.

We also hope that patients themselves if they are able and their families will use this area to make a drink and to spend some time out of their room, engaging with Hospice staff and volunteers as well as their loved ones.

This is all part of the rehabilitative ethos we try to bring to those coming into the Inpatient Unit, with a view to getting people back home wherever possible.”
