A popular tourist attraction is to open a new inclusive play area next Saturday (May 8).
Knockhatch Adventure Park in Hailsham says the area will be for children with disabilities and their family and friends.
Here’s Knockhatch: “Officially opening on Saturday 8th May, this fabulous exclusive play area within the existing Chestnut Tree Wood play park allows children with disabilities and SEN needs to play with family and their friends on accessible equipment.
You will need a radar key to enter the area and children must be accompanied by an adult/carer.
You and your child/ren, their friends and family will enjoy a wide access slide for two, raised sandpit, bamboo water play feature, ball shoot, skittles and the wheelchair accessible roundabout and wheelchair trampoline.
How great is that!!!
The wheelchair accessible swing has yet to be installed but all will be ready by opening day.
Inspired by Knockhatch’s family member and co-owner Colin Jaggers, Bid Food wanted to become involved so became a sponsor of the project and with their support, Flights of Fancy Ltd, who were also behind the Dragon’s Castle, another exciting feature in the Park, undertook its construction.
All the equipment is made from natural sustainable recycled material that will withstand the weather.
In addition, Knockhatch has one of the first Changing Spaces areas with toilets and plenty of space for your disabled youngster and their parent/carer to use its facilities in comfort and with dignity.
And while you’re there don’t forget to visit the brown and albino Wallaby’s with their lovely new Joey’s and all the other attractions.”
