NOT wanting local children to miss out on the fun of trick or treating, Eastbourne mum, web designer and debt centre manager, Helen Diplock, came up with a novel alternative.
This Halloween, Old Town residents and businesses are encouraged to decorate their houses with a scary pumpkin!
Children and adults alike can then explore the pumpkin displays, from the safety of the pavement.
Since launching the idea on Facebook on Friday, the Pumpkin Trail has already had 300 people signing up.
Those displaying a pumpkin can add a pin to the Pumpkin Map at bit.ly/OTpumpkins, and on Halloween, share a photo with the #OldTownPumpkins.
Local businesses are also getting involved, and some have already donated prizes, such as Old Town Community Library.
Event organiser, Helen Diplock, says “My daughters really enjoy seeing the amazing Old Town halloween displays, and this gives all our children a safe way to explore them.
“Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing some incredible carvings – it’s a way for the whole community to join in.”
