The countdown is on until May 17 when restaurants, cafes and leisure attractions will open fully at The Beacon.

Work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure everyone can hit the ground running as the easing of Covid restrictions will allow eating and drinking inside for the first time since before Christmas.

In addition to restaurants and cafes, leisure will also start to welcome customers back with Ninja Warrior opening on May 17 and Cineworld reopening its doors on May 19.

Centre Manager Bill Plumridge said: “While it was fantastic to welcome customers back into the Centre on April 12, we have all missed not being able to enjoy everything else that is on offer at The Beacon.

“It has been very tough for everyone in the hospitality industry during the past three lockdowns so it is really positive that life for them can start to get back to normal, albeit with Covid restrictions still in place and ensuring safety is paramount for everyone.

“It is very exciting that Cineworld will be reopening on May 19, having been closed since October and we will soon be able to welcome Boom Battle: Bar to Eastbourne. Shopping centres are about so much more than just shopping so I am delighted that we can now finally say to our customers, come and shop, eat and be entertained. We look forward to seeing everyone very soon.”

Opening up again in The Beacon will be Nando’s, The Bok Shop and Taylor’s Sports Bar and Restaurant on the first floor with Jamaica Blue, Shades, McDonald’s, Starbucks and Muffin Break on the ground floor.

Preparation work is well underway with Boom Battle:Bar which is scheduled to open early summer with a date to be announced soon. The adventure bar offers the chance to mix with friends and family for great food and drink, while challenging them to fun and crazy games such as Bavarian axe throwing, electric darts, crazy golf and beer pong.
