Rogue traders have been operating in the Stone Cross, Polegate and Eastbourne area.

Victims will be approached by workers stating that trees or bushes need chopping down or garden work needs completing at the person’s address.

This will generally be completed to a poor standard and they will demand payment for these services and in some cases victims have been taken to banks or ATMs to withdraw money.

Here is Eastbourne Police: “Genuine workers will never turn up unannounced and demand payment for work you have not asked for.

Workers who state they work for a local authority such as councils, will not require payment for any work they under take.

Anyone who is aware of friends or family members who have experienced such incidents are encouraged to report this to us, either online, 101 or popping into a police station near you.”
