THE Friends of Eastbourne Seafront are today asking:

Should Eastbourne Borough Council be allowed to destroy three seafront sculptures?

Here’s their thoughts: “Many people have been upset for various reasons to see one of the Peaceful Pebble people dismantled and destroyed in Pavillion Gardens – with permission from EBC.

If you want to see the remaining sculptures saved you need to take action now and contact your local Councillor and Councillor Stephen Holt. The sculptures are the property of EBC, the new leaseholder of the area has spoken to EBC to try and get them relocated as she does not want to keep them.

Should EBC be allowing this to happen? Is it acceptable to destroy something that so many people appreciate and enjoy, which has cost the local tax payers so much money only two years ago. To be clear the amount stated recently £2000 each, was not the amount paid to the artist.

They are going to be almost impossible to move and relocate, unless specialist equipment can be brought in. Let’s call for Eastbourne Borough Council to say they should stay as they are, where they are.

If you want to stop them being destroyed please get in touch with your local Councillor, Cllr Margaret Bannister and Cllr Stephen Holt.”
