We are entering lambing season, and with more people using the countryside during lockdown, there has been a significant rise in sheep worrying.

If you are out with your dog, please keep them under control and on a lead around livestock.

Here is East Sussex County Council: “Even obedient dogs have a natural instinct to chase, and sheep can become very stressed and can kill or injure themselves by their panicked attempts to escape the dog.

Pregnant sheep frequently miscarry their lambs and live lambs can become separated from their mothers.

It is an offence to allow a dog to worry sheep.

Worrying includes attacking or chasing sheep and, in some circumstances, farmers are legally entitled to shoot dogs if they are endangering their sheep.”
