YESTERDAY afternoon was quite strange in the House of Commons – with the DGH at the centre of debate.

First, the LibDem Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper said paediatric services were being downgraded at the DGH.

This was our report yesterday PM – ‘Local LibDem scaremongering about DGH’ (and he says Caroline is doing a great job) – Bournefree Live – Latest news from Eastbourne, Polegate, Hailsham, Pevensey, Bexhill and Sussex.

At around 2pm, Tim Loughton – the Tory MP for East Worthing and Shoreham – raised a Point of Order as Caroline Ansell, the Eastbourne MP, was unwell.

Mr Loughton said what Daisy Cooper had said ie paediatric services were being downgraded was factually incorrect.

He asked for the record to be corrected as he said it was untrue.

Daisy Cooper then spoke. She said there was local concern and Ms Ansell had acknowledged that herself. She didn’t repeat her allegation that services were being downgraded but she referred to a Scrutiny Committee – with politicans on all sides – having expressed concern at the move by the DGH Trust.

And that was that….
