IT’S a very special Christmas tree – and it will soon be back for 2021.

Sponsors are needed to make the annual Tree of Light the success it has become every year.

It’s £250 to be a sponsor – and rest assured your money will be going to local worthy charities.

Each year the Tree stands proudly outside the Towner and Congress Theatre in the Devonshire Quarter.

It’s there so people can visit and remember their loved ones as Christmas can be a very sad time for many.

There is also a service in early December where people can tie a ribbon to the tree in memory of someone who has died.

It’s organized by the Rotary clubs of Eastbourne, and Mel Adams is the main organizer.

She said: “It has become a very special tree, close to many people’s hearts.

“We raise around £8,000 a year for charity but it’s not just about raising money – it’s giving people somewhere to mourn and to remember a loved one.

“That is very important. Grief is so terrible, we all know that, and we try to provide the opportunity to remember.”
