Each December, Rotarians in Eastbourne come together to stage a service – this year is Sunday December 10 at 4pm outside the Congress Theatre.

The Tree is a symbol of remembrance and it’s a way of remembering loved ones.

It is covered in a host of white lights and white ribbons in memory of that special person – or indeed people – no longer with us.

Di Hammond, Joint President of Eastbourne AM Rotary Club, said: “This is a very special afternoon for many people. Everyone is welcome to attend – we serve hot drinks inside the Congress, the service is inside, then we go outside by the Tree to remember.

“There will be readings, songs and music, and if you wish there is the opportunity to tie a ribbon to the tree yourself.”

Sponsors enable around £7,000 each year to be donated to local charities.
