TV presenter Chris Packham has slammed Wealden District Council in the row over Pete’s Pond in Willingdon.

Packham tweeted: “I wonder if you (WDC) would be so kind as to review your decision here.

“It seems ill judged and lacking in compassion.

“And there is a biodiversity crisis . . . every little helps.”

On March 3 Peter said he was told by Wealden District Council to remove all the features in his back garden by the end of the month because the council sees it as a ‘commercial enterprise’.

More than 35,000 people have signed Pete The Pond’s petition to save his garden in Willingdon.
