URBAN Ground has two independent, quality coffee shops in the heart of Eastbourne. Owners Andy and Michelle Spirou opened the first on Bolton Road back in 2011. Their South Street Store opened in 2017, a welcome addition to the cool Little Chelsea neighbourhood.
Both stores are hugely popular with friendly atmospheres, first rate coffee, and a consistently high level of customer service. Their Bolton Road store offers freshly made sandwiches and cakes; the grilled cheese and kimchi toastie on local bread is a best-seller! The South Street store also offers an exceptional brunch from 8am, serving up dishes such as Turkish eggs, Chorizo Rösti and Bombay Hash.
Andy and Michelle take pride in their quality coffee, with Andy explaining, “Our coffee comes from Square Mile, one of the best roasters in the country which has won worldwide recognition.”
Their aim when opening was to bring a slice of the buzzing London coffee scene to their hometown of Eastbourne. As the first speciality coffee shop to open in Eastbourne, they are delighted that others have since popped up around the town.
Their stores attract a range of demographics, with young and old customers alike flocking to them for a consistent and quality experience. Whether its young professionals grabbing lunch or a morning coffee or tourists seeking out some of the best of what Eastbourne has to offer, the range of people gives the shops an inviting, community feel. Urban Ground has attracted a local following of regulars, who can attest to the great atmosphere and quality food and drinks.
Both stores have outside seating so customers can enjoy a coffee or brunch in the sunshine. Their South Street store is fully licensed, serving beers and wine, the perfect accompaniment to brunch with friends. The store is also available for private hire for all manner of events and occasions.
Andy, Michelle, and the team are keen to continue building their customer base, and are committed to always providing the best coffee, food and customer service
