WEALDEN District Council is working with Resources for Change to better understand who visits the Cuckoo Trail and how user experience can be improved.

If you have used the Heathfield to Polegate section of the trail in the last two years, you can help the Council to shape future activities and improvements by completing this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CuckooTrail1

“The Cuckoo Trail is one of Wealden’s most treasured assets,” said Councillor Philip Lunn, Cabinet Member for Community and Public Health.

“We’re keen to find out why, how and when the trail is used. This will help us to better understand and meet the needs of everyone who uses it, from commuters and dog walkers, to cyclists and horse-riders. If you can spare ten minutes to complete the survey, you’ll be contributing to valuable research that will help us get the most out of what the trail has to offer.”

The online survey forms part of a wider consultation where the views of some 200 people using the trail were captured from pop-up stalls during August.

This research follows the launch of the Healthy Wealden website; a new Council platform focused on health, wellbeing, and the great Wealden outdoors. A section of the website dedicated to the Cuckoo Trail details its origins which are steeped in history.

An interactive map pin-points all available access points from Heathfield in the north of the District, down to Polegate in the south, before hopping over the border into Hampden Park, Eastbourne.

Resources for Change and their pop-up stalls will be back along the trail to conduct further research in October. Dates once confirmed will advertised on the Council’s Healthy Wealden Facebook page. Like and follow @HealthyWealden on Facebook for updates.
